My boyfriend has been waiting since Jan. 8, 2007. Does anyone have a similar experience, is this normal?

That's about normal. A few months, but he can call the 800 number to the VA and they can check the status of his request over the telephone. You can also go to www.va.gov to read more information about the process. If this is the first time he is using his Bill than it also takes a little longer. The VA is very busy taking care of A LOT of veterans, just stay in contact with the VA and keep track on all dealings you have with them especially when and how much money is given to him.

unfortunately, the VA is so back logged with inefficiency that it could take some time, even up to a year, or more, but his benefits will be backdated and then be OK after that, i hope. The VA needs to do some revamping of how they handle everything from vet-care to educational benefits to just about everything that they are supposed to be there for, I get one letter for this and another letter for that, and its just forms putting you off time and time again, i believe they have forgotten what they are there for.

we waited over six months and that was basic disability monies.............I heard there was a 10 month back log on these payments for GI bill money..............BUT once it comes in he should be fine and get his arrears...most schools are pretty good about it being adrift..is there a VA rep on his campus do you know?
Keep calling them to remind them.....................might not have made it come any quicker but sure as heck made us feel a LOT better.

We waited over 6 months.It takes a while to get into the system.
