I had my gallbladder taking out about 4 weeks ago maybe a little less but all day today I have been really sick. With my leg on the side I got cut going numb, i've been weak and have some dizzy spells..Should I go to the doctor or could this be a side effect from the surgery.

You need to see your doctor asap. You may have an infection. This can be very bad. Your leg being numb may mean that the DR hit a nerve when he cut you the sensation should come back. As far as the dizzy spells that is normal the first 24hrs after surgery. This also indicates you may have an infection. You need IV antibiotics or possibly oral antibiotics.

I'm not sure how old you are or what your pre-existing conditions were besides the gallbladder, but 3-4 weeks out from surgery, you should be feeling pretty good, and certainly should not have taken a step back. Numbness and weakness (esp. if you mean like muscle weakness...can't walk well, are falling to right side, can't lift leg as well as the left) are more neurologic, or possibly circulatory. If you are having one sided weakness (not simply fatigue) and numbness that is not resolving, you should go to the ER now b/c it could be a stroke. If you mean weakness like fatigue, with dizzy spells, and you're feeling a little under the weather, you could have a viral infection. Either way, not likely side effects of surgery and you should see your doctor.

I would go to the dr, you shouldn't be having side effects this late into recovery.

It's possible that you have a pinched nerve as well.

It's also possible that something internal is not healing properly or---don't say it out loud, they left a sponge or something in there!

It sure sounds like you should see the dr to find out for sure, you should be healing & starting to feel better by now.

Please go to the emergency room. I had my gallbladder out and nothing like this happened to me. You could have a blood clot or some type of staph infection.

Please seek help right away.

I'm no doctor but you could have a blood clot or anything ecspecially after surgery.

your leg numbing is not a side affect.
