What kind of player do i need to play movies i have downloaded from limewire?

My regular windows media player nor Quick time will play the movies. I want to eventually put one on my mp4 player. Any suggestions? Do I need to upgrade something? Or are there better progams out there?

I have downloaded the VLC media player, which does make it able for me to watch movies now. TY. But, that doesn't help with me being able to sync them to my mp4 player.

best - divx player (from divx codec creator)

VLC Media Player works very well and is free.
