I don't know that getting fat is a sin. Sometimes it is not a sign of gluttony, it is a choice of the wrong foods.
Many people that are forced to eat out because of their calling get fat, because the restaurants serve the high carb foods. If you eat at home you could chose to eat low carb foods.
Then preachers do not necessarily know the difference between high carbs and low carbs. I had no idea until my cardiologist told me to stay off of bread, potatoes, white rice, pasta, and milk. That almost makes eating not fun. But, you really feel better if you eat that way.
For those that need the help, you can eat all the meat and vegetables that you want if you stay off of the starchy vegetables.
My cardiologist only knows three words, 'South Beach Diet'.

Who overeats and gets fat? The pastor?
Honestly, because being a pastor is a generally sedentary job. Sit and have comittee meetings. Sit and write a sermon. Sit and have a council meeting. Sit and give guidance to your parishoners. Lots of sitting, not much taking a jog. It's not about overeating. Most people put on weight as they get older.

Not really sure what your point is here. I've never seen where overeating is a sin. Christ does deliver us from our sins. Pastors fail. It's called the human condition. If you look at a person's actions looking for God, you'll probably be disappointed, because Christians can not be perfect. You have to look at their intentions.

If a serial killer makes the statement that killing is wrong, is his statement not true since he kills people? The fact remains that killing IS wrong despite the fact that the guy who said it kills people!
Moral of the story: Preachers who overeat are guilty of gluttony, but that doesn't change the fact that gluttony is a sin. HOWEVER, preachers ought to have freeness of speech (practice what they preach so they can preach what they practice).

Their metabolisms could have slowed down. However, a lot of people don't practice what they preach. Also, if you've ever been to a church "pot-luck" you'd know that most of the dishes there aren't exactly healthy. They probably don't always have time to eat right. If they're doing a lot of hospital visits, they may only have time to grab fast food. Could be all sorts of reasons.

That doesn't necessarily apply to all pastors but I can see where you're coming from. Well, one reason is not everyone is perfect, such as in the case of over-indulgence, and they are forgiven for their faults. That's how I see it

Preachers and pastors are human beings, not only preachers but we all sin and fall short of the glory of God.

All of them?
If not, why don't you adress the question to those pastors who are like that? You might do a world of good.
