Of COURSE they should acknowledge their true nature and accept it. Repression is BAD.

According to what I believe both spiritually and intellectually "they" should do what they please. If someone believes that they want to "change" and believe that its possible, by all means go for it. But realize that the chances of doing it successfully are pretty remote.

And if someone feels as though their job, home or even their life would be in danger if they lived openly then, for them, staying inside of that closet might seem to be the only choice that they have.

Personally, if I were gay I would hope that there would be a time when I felt strong enough to live openly. You are whoever God made you to be and if that is a gay or lesbian person then that's who you should be able to present to the world.

Edited:

Irishcharmer84, BOY are you right!!! You won't get many Christians to admit that though.

As expected, a lot of narrow-minded "They should become CHRISTIANS" answers.

Of course, these answers have NOTHING to do with the question.

If they're gay, they've probably already acknowledged this fact. A previous answerer stated that society persecutes them, and this is true mostly because of the bigoted religious beliefs that our society has espoused about homosexuality.

Whoever this hypothetical person is, they should try to live as the human being that everyone deserves to be, regardless of sexual orientation.

it's obviously not "natural" because all mamals were made to reproduce. but most gay people say "it's not a choice", they just are that way. and if that's true and they are confident in their own mind that they will only ever have intimate feelings for the same sex, then they should come out and live with pride for who they are instead of lying about who they are. anyways, the more gays there are the more the poplation will be kept in check and that would be a good thing. (unless of course they get a serogate mothers, or are a lesbian who gets sperminated)

I do not believe there are any perfect Christians here for my own faults are difficult and often get the better of me so speaking from that point I confess my faults and ask both for strength and forgiveness. I continue to believe in the grace of our lord and infinite power/charity and one day I shall overcome. Whatever the individuals problem work with their god and keep their faith that is all a person can do!!

They should do whatever they have to do to be happy. Yes, they should acknowledge that they are gay, because denying it or trying to suppress it is psychologically unhealthy. No, they shouldn't try to change, there's nothing wrong with being gay. They should live how they want to live.

If God made everything to be perfect, and if Gay people are born gay, would that mean that God created something imperfect, which would be at odds with God being omnipotent?!

The part of the bible that says that man shall not lie with man is in the book of leviticus. In the same passage, it says that women are unclean seven days before and after menstruation, and that during menstruation, they cannot be seen by men. (Something they don't tell you in the tampon ads)

It also says that for your sins to be forgiven, you have to sacrifice some of your meat and grain. It also tells you what type of birds to sacrifice for different sins, ranging from hawks to pidgeons.

It also says it is a sin to wear garments made of more than tow manmade materials, and that it is a sin to eat shell fish....

Basically, that means you can never ever take your girlfriend out to a seafood restaraunt in a lambswool suit with silk lining while she's menstruating, wihout savrificing one of your calves and wheat, and possibly an eagle.

The above example sounds silly, but it's all in the book of leviticus!

I'm not gay, but i think it is extremely hypocritical of some christians to condemn their fellow man, and treat them with such disregard when Jesus told them all to love eachother. Also, if christians are going to condemn gay people as they are told to in the book off leviticus, then it would be terribly hypocritical of them not to abide by the rest of the rules laid down in the same book...

You dig?

1. What's with the ellipses? IMO, you have too many in your question.
2. They should come out and stay gay. They should acknowledge that they're gay but not change.

Should a black person live as a white person? Should a woman live as a man?

Homosexuals, like minorities and women are discriminated against every day. It's no wonder that some of them remain in the closet, denying who they are, and live as heterosexuals. Society right now doesn't really give them much incentive to come out into the open and love themselves for who they truly are.

Sin should be confessed. Sinners should repent, change their mind and change their actions.

Should homosexuals live as heterosexual? Not necessarily, they could live a celibate life.

It is possible to change from a life of homosexual behavior. Notice 1 Corinthians 6:9-11:

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals... will inherit the kingdom of God. Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God."

Just because you repent of a sin, that does not mean you will not be tempted by that sin again, but you do not have to give in to that temptation! That's called self-control.

I believe that a gay person should try to overcome this. There are organizations who help. I believe that homosexuality is a sin and a perversion of nature. (Part of sex is to propagate the species and two males, no matter how nice they are to each other or the world around them, no matter how loving, can never make a baby.) I believe that people afflicted with this problem should not glorify it. They should try to find healing and recovery.
