I like this one girl. I was never sure if she liked this other guy, but I took the first step in asking her to go to a movie. I IMed her to ask if she would like to go to a movie. She said she could, but then asked who was I going with. I said I'd call a friend. Why did she ask if I was going with anyone else? Did this mean she wasn't really comfortable? Should I call my friend if I want to get close to her? I want to be more than friends, but I want to make a move on her without her actually know that I'm trying to hard.

I would think most women being asked to go to a movie would automatically think that it was just the two of you unless the way you worded it sounded like a group thing. Depends on if you have gone to a movie before with a group and she went along she might assume that was the case again. Or she new you were asking for a one on one and does not want to do that and asked who else was going so you would get a hint it wouldn't be just the two of you.
That's my best guesses anyway.
Good Luck.
Actually when she asked who else was going you probably should of said I was hoping just me and you. To late now but maybe next time.
Don't be afraid to ask, if she is a nice girl the worse she will say is no. And trust me if you are young you are going to hear so many more of those.

Maybe she just wants to know the number of people going to movies instead of you and her. You see, she is trying to find out if it is a date or not.

When she ask "who you was going with", you should say, "you I hope". and smile. If she is uncomfortable, does not hurt for you to take a male friend along and her a girlfriend.

So she is comfortable. She want to play with you.
