My 13 months old went to the doctors for an eye infection. The doc said he had the start of pink eye and have him eye drops. I have a hell of time trying to get them in his eye and I have to fight him and he screams and cries. Any tips on how to get him to keep his eyes open. How to do I do a warm water rinse his doctor suggested it but didnt really explain it?

Use a warm wash cloth and wipe from the inside corner to the out side. Use a clean cloth for each eye. Maybe try to get the drops in while he is sleeping at night, at nap time and early in the A.M. before he wakes. Best wishes for his eye to get better.

I have always mixed a little salt and warm water and taken a clean wash rag and soaked it with the mixture. Then wipe the eyes starting with the inside corner and stroke out towards the outside corners. The salt and warm water simulate tears which are a natural water cleanser. It is especially good to use 2 wash cloths, one for each eye, and to do it whenever he wakes up and has a lot of dried up goo in his eyes. Make sure to wash your hands before and after. Pink eye is EXTREMELY contagious.

I wouldn't fool with the warm water rinse, the eye drops alone will take care of it. They have the antibiotic to get rid of the infection. Have your husband hold your baby while you, with 2 fingers hold his eye open and do the best you can with it. Don't worry about the drops getting wasted, you won't need all of it anyway.

Crazy as it sounds Get some local honey put it over his eye not in his eye let it sit as long as he will allow do it often wipe off honey w/ warm milk, not hot. My son gets pink eye always! I do this and its gone in the morning. I found this trick as he is allergic to the eye meds. Give it a try pink eye is very uncomfortable.

He actually doesn't have to have his eyes open when you put the drops in. Just put them in the corner of his eyes and hold him still, as soon as he opens his eye up the drops will go in.
