I keep getting a very annoying Internet explorer application error window that pops up everytime a close out an open web page. It reads (essentially) "The instruction at 0x7c901010 referenced memory at 0x0000001c. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate program". I'm pretty sure there's something I need to do in "internet options" under the Tools tab, but I don't know exactly what. Hoping for some help, Thanks

Run Internet Explorer with no add-ons installed
Start - All Programs -Accessories -Systems Tools - Click on “Run Internet Explorer (no add-ons)” If IE runs ok you have one or more bad add-ons.

In IE tools - Programs - Click on “Manage Add-ons”. Disable all add-ons then restart. Enable one add-on and restart. If ok enable another ad-on. Repeat until you find the add-on(s) that are causing the problem.

If this does not work you may need to reinstall IE7, uninstall IE7 with Ad/Remove programs. This will take you back to IE6.
Run Windows Live OneCare “Full Service Scan” http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm
Reboot.
Reinstall IE7

Sounds like spyware, do you have IE6? or not. Try my favorites:
EXCELLENT Free Anti-Spyware:
--AVG Anti-Spyware http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 is a free anti-spyware protection tool developed by GRISOFT for home use.
--SPYBOT - SEARCH & DESTROY http://www.safer-networking.org/ Download and install Spybot - Search & Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with the program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.
--AD-AWARE http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware Download and install Ad-Aware. You should use this program to scan your computer on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.
--SpywareGuard http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
--SpywareBlaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place. Install & update SpywareBlaster with the latest definitions. After you have updated, click the button - enable protection for all unprotected items.

1. If u have IE7..go back to IE6...Too many problems still...
2. This shud solve your problem
3. If u are on IE6 and still get those problems and u end up getting an error report to send or dont send to microsoft...DONT SEND to microsoft... dont help.
4. If they are periodic...live with them...Mine got out of hand and I was getting them repeatedly. After using up all options I ended up calling Microsoft..paying them $35.00...that took care of it....

Which version of IEx?

The new infallible version 7 crashes religiously, share your pain with Microsoft by sending a bug report.
