I don't want to re-import all my music from iTunes after I re-format my hard drive, and I don't want to sit here and make 50 MP3 cd's that I'm never going to listen to. How do I back up my iTunes so that I can just pop the CD in and it all comes back up?

open your ITunes.
Click "File"
Click "Back Up to Disc"
Follow instructions.

You're gonna need blank cd's.

when you're ready(after re-formatting your hard drive, reinstall your itunes,
then, pop in your back up cd,
click restore, when prompted.

I believe it is file export library then save the xml file to a disc or a flash drive...
or if your library is small enough click back up to disk..
or I guess if you know how go under edit preferences and under advanced hit burning from there at the very bottom hit data cd and then burn the library to a blank (4 gigabyte or more ussually)dvd.

oh and if you go with the data disc you might not be able to play the disc on your stereo...you can still load the library on the computer the stereo just wont play it

Find the folder called "iTunes Music" and copy it to another drive.

Then when the drive is reformatted you can copy it back and restart iTunes. You will have to tell iTunes to import the files in that folder once you get it back online.

if you format something you lose all the data on it so i suggest burning them to a cd/dvd or put them on a flash drive
