That is an excellent goal. Congratulations on not being on of those crazy ones that want to lose 60 lbs. on some stupid diet in two months. What you want to do is easy to accomplish. You just need to reduce your caloric intake and make sure that you eliminate simple carbohydrates except for during and right after your workouts/fitness activities. Other than that you should be comsuming complex carbohydrates from dark green vegetables and whole grains and protein from white lean meats.
You should aim for a good 1,600 to 1,800 calories a day. Remember to take a day off the week to indulge yourself, after all you are human, but don't go overboard.
From the above mentioned calories, you should have 40% of them coming from the complex carbs, 40% from your proteins, and 10% from the good fats. Omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids help you burn the bad fat. They are usually found in fish, my favourite is salmon. Be consistent and you'll lose more than 10 lbs.

You can do this easily by just changing a few things with your usual diet.
Eliminate things like:
1. soda- even diet soda can sabotage a weight loss program
2. salt- table salt makes you retain extra fluids
3. refined sugar-if you are jonesing for something sweet, make it a banana or berries. Not grapes, they are almost pure sugar.
4. skipped meals- don't skip meals, it makes your metabolism slow down, the exact opposite of what you need to lose weight.
5. junky foods-anything with refined sugar and refined flour is not good for you, even when you are slender.
6. bad fats-look on food labels; anything that has hydrogenated oil in it is BAD FAT.
7. Red meat. To lose weight quickly, try to avoid red meats. This means anything that comes from a FOUR FOOTED animal.
8. Don't eat for at least 3 hours before you go to sleep at night. And make sure you get a good full 8 hours of sleep.
9. Exercise the same time every OTHER day. Allow your body to rest in between, or do a different type of activity on alternate days. For example: On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I do aerobics or weight training. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I do swimming. On the weekends, I just have fun. This might include going hiking or bike riding, or it might just be going mall shopping for a couple hours, or gardening.
Have fun with it. Nothing better than fresh natural foods, fresh air, and plain good exercise to make you feel terrific!
