Okay. I am in desperate need of a job. I am currently living with my boyfriend, and rent isn't cheap... Neither are bills. I was starting to think about dog walking. I love animals and it would help me stay in shape. How many people do you think would hire me to go walk there dogs for a couple hours? Price would be around $10 an hour... I need some input on this, I really like the idea. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Well, I think $10 is pretty cheap. I paid my dog walker $15 for a 30 minute session. I think this is the norm too because I checked with a local business and they did it for about the same price. My dog walker walked only my dog so it was always individual sessions. I would check your local area and see what their rates are and base your rates off of that. Your first step would actually be creating a business card and advertising. Place signs at the local pet groomers, kennels, pet shops, grocery stores and even in newspaper. Then spread the word to everyone you know. Good luck!

As far as I know, there are a lot of dog walkers, but more would certainly be appreciated! And I think your price is about right. Maybe a little less. You can put you dog in a daycare for a full day for that price ($20). I would check out your local phone book and newspapers to see how much competition you will have. Sounds like a great idea though. You may also want to check out insurance, too!

I would offer dog walking and in home care for when they are away on holidays. I use to do that go in and feed peoples cats and change litter, water plants collect mail while they were away and I use to make heaps of money (Tax free) esp around christmas and easter.
Good luck
