go to a academic school!!! being a hairstylist is cool but college is really a good experience. if you are trying to open a business, choosing a major in business is one piece of knowledge that you can inherit to open your business. a beauty school only takes 2 yrs. i would say go to beauty school and a university part time and then once you are done with beauty school, you can work in a shop and earn a living and then once you graduate from a university you will have experience and enough knowledge to run a successful business.

If you know you want to become a hairstylist, use the money for hair college and then you can start working to make more money. You do not necessarily have to go to academic college to own your own business. There are many classes for starting a business without a formal college degree.

Go to Beauty School! Most universities have continuing education courses that you can go to without being a student. I know the University of Georgia has them and they have courses on how to write a business plan, start a business, etc. Save the money from college to put towards a salon. I have a friend who has a MAJORLY successful salon here in GA and now is moving to LA to start another branch.

I know way too many people who went to college and now dont even use the degree. My husband included....he builds houses and went to school for biological engineering!

You could go to cosmetology school first, then use your license to pay your way through college.
