raw spinach is very good for them. The reason some sites warn against spinach was because of the recent ecoli problems. Just some fanatics out there trying to help put more farmers out of work. The only things that your bird can't have is:
chocolate
caffiene
avocado
peach pits and apple sees---i simply avoid all fruit seeds and pits
high sugar content
high salt content
many say peanuts because they grow an invisible mold.

Use your best judgement. Whatever is good for you is good for your bird with the exception of the above items. Moderation is the key.

As another stated, the concern with raw spinach was the e-coli being found in some.

That problem seems to have been contained, so feeding spinach is perfectly fine! It is really good for them!

They also like celery, dandelion greens, kale, and other healthy veggies.

Just avoid avacado, fruit pits, chocolate, dairy, asparagus, caffiene, and processed sugars.

the problem with raw spinach consumption was that there was a risk of e-coli infection in spinach grown in certain US states. The odds of your bird having contracted e-coli and negligible (it may not even be possible for birds to get it... i'm not sure).

Your bird should be fine.

Your bird should be fine. Spinach is OK in small amounts. Just not to much to often.

well, call your vet just to give yourself peace of mind, but he'll probably be fine. i have a canary who eats all kinds of fruits and vegetables. birds do need vegetables, so i don't know why spinach should be avoided. after you talk to your vet, go to the library or a bookstore and read up on your pet. books should answer most of your questions.
