Real butter. Margarine is only one molecule away from being plastic. If you were to set a stick of real butter and a tub of margarine outside on a hot summer day, not even the flies will come to the margarine, but they'll flock to the butter which is decomposing next to the tub of margarine that looks like normal. That, to me, is a sign that I shouldn't be eating margarine if flies won't even touch it.

Real butter. Most margarine has many many saturated and trans fats (bad fats) in it. If you are going to use margarine use the stuff that is made from sunflower, soybean or safflower oil (not Blue Bonnet) it isn't as bad as regular margarine.

Years ago, when they discovered cholesterol, they recommended that everyone get off butter, and switch to margarine. Now it is known that margarine is worse for you than butter (margarine is solidified oil--and the process supposedly makes it worse).
