I can see why you might think Christians worship the Bible. John l:l says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." A few verses down it says "the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us." (that is, Jesus.). And yes, Christians should refer to the Old Testament. There are a lot of good principles in it. People who know the Bible don't "pick and choose" . The Holy Spirit reminds them of where the verse is that applies to the particular situation.

Christians don't. Fundamentalist Christians do. Yes we do refer to the Old Testament because the whole spirit of our faith came directly from Judaism and Christ's teachings are based on the Jewish Bible (AKA Old Testament) The problems occur when Bible literalists (AKA Fundamentalists) remove passage from their historical and/or literary context. The Bible did not just fall out of the sky as a completed work and to fully understand it people also need to know about the culture and history of the various times and places. It also helps to have some education about literary styles so it is easier to see when something is meant literally or allegorically.

To begin with christians do not worship a book! They cherish the holy bible because it is the proven word of GOD! And everyone who excepts the lord JESUS as their personal savior, loves it! Because it is not only a book but its GODS instructions on the only way home! Just think of it as a roadmap. The old testament has been proven by history, by a man named joesepsus who recorded the jewish history! The battles the jews fought in the natural, we now fight in the spiritual. After all GOD said to be carnally minded is DEATH! but to be spiritually minded is LIFE! What would it profit a man if he gains the whole world and then loses his soul!!

Old testament prophecy is important because Jesus fulfills that prophecy. Without the OT, we wouldn't think Jesus was all that great.
Use the OT and ten commandments as a measuring stick for where your life is (sin-wise), then be glad that we have the New Testament's (Jesus') gift of grace

They worship the word that instructs them on how to worship the Christ. So I guess they do worship the word. Is this right or wrong?
There is none other than the word. How can you differentiate one thing from another without words and concepts? Otherwise your discernment is based solely on your sensual perceptions of reality, which can be classified into agreeable or disagreeable things. This is an animal's lifestyle. But for humans it is different, theirs is one composed of the mind, which requires the use of words to concepts, and concepts to truths. So it is impossible for one to associate themselves with anything beyond the immediate physical form without the use of words. Even in imagination we associate image with word.
So how does one worship the God-in-flesh?
Think about it, even if Jesus was equal to God, why would you worship his body? it's absurd and illogical. If Jesus rose from the dead and departed, what purpose is there in worshipping his body and flesh? Things made to be impermanent. No, this is all wrong. Those who worship Jesus and believe he is God ought to worship God, for there is no difference.
This is amazing!
Hey people! If you think that Jesus is God, then there is no point worshipping Jesus, because his material body is no longer necessary to him. So you should worship God the Father! He is the source of all life, not a material form.

I would ask what in the old testament doesn't apply? If Jesus did it, then it applies.

Very good question. I feel they worship the bible because it is real, it exists, it can be seen. Can Jesus be seen? People need to have something tangible or real. I don't know why they believe in it, as it is a complete contradiction.

I don't think that we worship the Bible. The whole Bible is God's word. We want to study it and learn from it, to know God better.
