I work all day and although I come home at lunch every day to see my dog, and he's in a crate but there's a thick cushion in there and likely he sleeps all day, but since he's in the crate, when I get home I feel like I should pet him every time he comes to me and play with him every time he wants to play. And if I don't, if I say "go lay down puppy" and he goes away I try to relax but I feel SO guilty. It never goes away. I even let him sit on my lap with my laptop! I'm not an overindulgent mom and he's a really really good boy, I just feel so much guilt I can't belive it when I just need to sit and relax. Does this happen to you?

you are doing great in work and it is great that you come home to see him at lunch. think of it this way...what if you couldnt come home to see him ever, then he would be alone the whole day and seeing your smiling face everyday makes him feel happy so dont feel guilty, your dog loves you no matter what :)

Well I have a black lab and she is really spoiled! I work during the day and when I get home I always just go ahead and take her out for a walk. I really let her run and play with her for about 20 min. Even though I am tired I do this with her because she will bug me if I don't. After our walk we both eat and then she settles down. Just get your dog in a routine and you will both be happier. Dogs are creatures of habit they want to make their human happy. Good Luck!!

This is how I look at it: He's a dog. He could be in a lot worse condition, so you don't have to feel guilty! So many people treat their animals like royalty, and really, their just a dog. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my puppy, but I have to step back sometimes when I get the urge to buy her a cute sweater. So, don't feel guilty, your a great mom!

I like to give my dog a lot of attention
you shouldn't feel guilty if your working all day long and have time to pay attention to your dog because your not like him your a human you have better things to do besides eat, sleep, and play
make sure you give him at least a little attention so your not making him feel depressed
dogs love to be around their humans because they know that they take care and love them

No, yet my canines acts like I cheated on him. He starts off sniffing me out so freakin puzzling, and that is like an severe sniffing too, he needs to sniff each and every element approximately what i grew to become into petting. His nostril is almost a vacuum while this happens! lol

Not all the time. I pet her her and "coo" to her until she decides that she is sleepy and wants to lay down.
