I have a bishan-frise poodle mix. He's seven years old and has someone recently gotten into the habit of licking everything. Your hand, the carpet, the blanket, he just licks everything constantly. I can't even imagine what the problem could be. Please help.

typically a dog with al icking problem or any animal in that sense is missing something in their diet, they need a mineral or even salt, My suggestion is try a vitamin supplement for your dog, they have capsuls... alter the diet, you should start to see noticable results, you can also once a week scramble an egg and add egg and a little bacon grease to the food stirring to see that he can get added salt, and protein, usually when a dog becomes an obsssive licker its due to a lack of nutrients...good luck

The dog is lacking something in its diet. If it licks your hand, it might be craving salt. Likelihood it is seeking some mineral that you're not providing. Try a mineral supplement or just let him poke around the yard, maybe in some dirt. I think they need magnesium or something. Anyway, I know they are lap dogs, so it may need (another) bath.

Alot of times, dogs associate licking with pain. I'd ask your local veterinarian to take a look at him/her.

Every time he sticks out his tongue, try grabbing it with your fingers, it doesn't hurt him, and he won't be encouraged to stick it out!
