He's a young guy that has not matured. He's afraid his guy friends will tease him. Young guys often put their friends before girls. They take a long time to grow out of that. Like mid 20's. I'd say fit in with the guys first. Start hanging out with them and get to know some of the friends first and he may feel a little more comfortable.

It's just a guy thing. They think they're weak when they flirt with a girl & they aren't about to show their friends how weak they are. So just be cool when he's around his friends. When he's more comfortable.. he'll start flirting with you in front of his friends. (:

Maybe that guy thinks flirting in front of his friends is embarrassing so he only does it when they're not around.
It's common with the 13-18 crowd.

I think that men do this because they think they will lose their manly place in the group if they show that they're into a girl. Pathetic but they don't want to be embarrassed around the "big boys". Don't worry it's not you.

thats the total opposite with me. guys flirt with me around there friends and also when no one is around. guys are stupid and weird. us, women, just cant lower ourselves to their low intelligence. lol so i suggest not trying to understand them. lol sorry guys it was all a joke. :)
