5 months is a while without kissing at any dating age,but I guess he's quite shy.Show him some affection (hug him,hold hands),give him a little kiss on the cheek and while close together keep eye contact and keep smiling at him.He seems a nice boy to not make a move in that time you'll just have give him a little push.
Holding handing,cuddling is not desperate.

Well it could be allot worse you could be pregnant by now from some boys. I'm glad to see that is not the case.
Just tell him...we have been dating for 5 months, don't you think it's time you kissed me? If he Say's yes, say ....well.....now would be a good time.
