no you have to do more then just sit-up's lifting weights etc. Just doing sit-ups won't reduce fat.

Sit-ups only tighten stomach muscles if done right. But you'd have to do so many each day to get small results. The only thing that will shrink stomach fat is dieting. The only drawback to this is that you will lose weight all over your body, not just the stomach. If you're already the right weight or a little underweight then you will end up being too skinny. The only thing I know of that will actually get rid of stomach fat is Lipo Suction.

Sit-ups are not effective for strengthening the stomach because that movement targets muscles other than your abdominal muscles. To help tone your abdominals you will primarily want to exercise your transverse abdominis ( the muscles that are on the outer portion, or the sides, of your stomach. Toning that area first will help with your posture and also help make exercising your rectus abdominus and obliques just a little easier. To do this, crunches will work as long as you are doing them correctly. As far as shrinking stomach fat, a cardio work out before and after an abdominal exercise would be the trick. In order to build defined abs, you pretty much need about a 4% body fat level or lower. That's when the 4 pack or 6 pack will begin to show. Otherwise, it is possible to build muscle over fat resulting in a larger physique or build.

Sit-ups tighten the muscles under the fat. Eating a healthy diet should get rid of the fat for you.

you might want to diet to..alot of people don't know that no matter how much weight you lose or fat you turn to muscle, the fat cells are still there so if you don't stick to a diet and excercise routine..it will all come back
