Yes, of course. That's why there's a proposal from the feds to track all visitors who come here on visas. That's why students on visas, who stop attending class, are reported immediately now.

There are a few reasons that Visa overstayers are not rounded up and sent back to their country of origin. Most of them are economically fuelled.
First of all, I am sure that you can imagine that legal proceedings against all these people and the cost of return would be something that the US would have to foot the bill for...and it would be more than a little expensive.
Secondly, people coming from the countries you mention are not a drain on the economy in the way that folks coming from the immediate south are because they have better educations and are better able to take care of themselves. The majority of Canadians and British are not coming over here to look for a hand-out, they are looking for a hand-up.
I say if you're going to be rounding up anyone..make sure it's those people that are sucking up my tax dollars..not the ones that are here in the hope that they can help us all out by working for a living. Part of the immigration process in the U.S. is having to prove that you have the ability to take care of yourself financially without resorting to taking gov't resources...yet this country is writhing with new immigrants that are not picking up their own tabs....i believe that these are the folks that should be going home...

It isn't the border is why not. However, tracking visa overstayers is another huge piece of the puzzle. Congress has mandated a deadline (since extended) to have an automated visa exit tracking system in place. Homeland Security wants to put it off again.
It shouldn't be put off again, I agree.

Geezis! Sure, round them all up, send 'em packin', but as I stated before:
I do not think the average Canadian or Brit overstayer is here to have an anchor baby (funded by Medicaid), collect food stamps, molest a child, rape & kill a woman in her bed, work under a STOLEN Social Security number (& send the money back to where the hell ever, spread communicable disease, flood our schools with non-English speaking brats screaming for taxpayer-funded services or piss about in a U.S. prison (a veritable palace compared to their former home) while honing their criminal skills & contacts!
I promise, if Congress & our pseudo-conservative Presidente will actually close the border, I will personally check the visa expiration date of every Canadian & Brit I encounter for the remainder of my life in this country.

We should "round up" all illegal aliens! However, why are you picking on "other than Mexicans" when MOST of the illegal aliens are Mexicans? Remember , this is not about race - this is about the law.
BTW, most estimates I have seen as to the number of ILLEGAL aliens is more than 20 million. Your statement about an estimated nine to 11 million is way too low!

well as a Brit fighting their way thru immigration at a HUGE cost to my self and my Navy husband............I suppose at a far stretch I would be under the title of visa violation BUT then as it takes the immigration office over a year to process ANYTHING then who is in the wrong here...................
IMO and this is a person in the system it REALLY sticks up my butt when the only AMNESTY is going to the Mexicans.sod everyone else that has paid a fortune to be here LEGALLY..............
I pay taxes [anyone can have a ssn for bank etc] but do not work............I pay for all of my medical and my children's medical / dental and truly do NOT feel a drain on the USA economy, just wish I could actually do something a bit more productive for the country I am living in.
As for rounding us all up hmmmmmmmmmmmmm my children are both USA citizens and one is currently in the US Air Force so where would that leave me?

Yes, let's get down to the bottom line. It's not about race. It's about FOLLOWING THE LAWS! someone isn't doing their job. Instead of taxing the American's for more freeways, and housing etc. Let's tax the OVER STAYERS! alot!
