Talk to your mechanic ask what it would cost to fix it up, you can also get it professionally cleaned inside for around $60. I drive old vehicles by choice, consider that the $700 you spent on your vehicle in the past year would probably amount to two payments on your $5000 loan. If your mechanic is good as you say he is, he should be able to give you the best advice for your situation. Problem is that even a $5000 car can still break Down and cost you lots of money. By continuously repairing the one you have, it eventually gets better and better and you grow more confident in it because you know it completely.

Why don't you talk to a trusted mechanic about your truck to see what is up. I mean, you spend 5000 dollars on another vehicle with maybe at the verge of the same problems you have just repaired in your truck.
What have you bought for 700 bucks? Are they short term repairs(eg, tune up, worn tires, oil changes, brakes) things that wear out and will have to be replaced in a year or a couple. Engines last longer than that, so do transmissions.
What is the est. cost of the repairs on the truck. Do they have to be "new" parts.?
What is the body like? What is the interior like? These are the items that matter the most because they can be a hassle to fix right(it will never be right)
