"Reid was unrepetant, telling broadcaster GMTV: "Illegal immigration harms the minimum wage.

"It is not fair, it undermines the rights of British workers, it steals taxpayers' money by taking services through the National Health Service or otherwise... provided by the British people, British taxpayers for British people themselves.

"So, it is grossly unfair and we intend, year on year, to make it harder and harder to get benefits or services or work if you are an illegal immigrant."

A three-month pilot scheme for text message reminders about visas is due to begin next month while a "watch list" will also be set up to alert government agencies about anyone illegally applying for services.

Immigration department officials will work with police, municipal councils and tax authorities to track down illegal immigrants and block any state aid they may be receiving.

The US has reached a point even if they pass these laws it would be tied in court until it became to costly. Groups like La Raza have millions of dollars set aside just for these reasons. I cannot see America even being able to do this. Where they have had this- 99% of them fail to become law.

Yes, it's long past due. I think it's interesting that there need to be proposals like this. It shows that there is an element within a country working against the best interests of that country. I think pro illegal types really are traitors and should be treated as such.

I am not american but european and I AM TOTALLY AGAINST ILEGAL INMIGRATION, but in america's case it would be dangerous to kick out so many ilegal aliens, you should filter the ones that work hard and are good "citizen" from the ones who go there to steal and do bad things... that's a diffucult task, I don't think the UK get a positive balance from that action.

I never thought I'd say this, but: John Reid is sure hot when he talks tough! If we can get a copy of him for the U.S., I'll be in favor of human cloning tomorrow!
