Serena's right, B. More Christians have been martyred for speaking the name Jesus Christ in this century than in all other centuries combined. Just because it isn't happening here in the US (yet) doesn't mean it isn't happening. Look up Afghanistan, or China, and see how they treat Christians.
Now, since your question is a direct reference to me, I will say that my profile is intended to make light of a situation that is real and deadly and happening, right now. Humor can generally get past people's defenses faster than a direct argument can. It has generated a lot of discussion, from Christians and non-Christians alike, and that's good, because that means it's working.

A lot of the cries of "PERSECUTION!" seem to stem from incedents where:
1: Christian groups or organizations no longer get free passes that other groups can't get.
2: Non-Christian groups demand or get the same perks that Christian groups get.
3: Christian dogma gets publicly humiliated when exposed to real world facts.
If Christians were somehow being "persecuted" in America, do they really imagine that this country would have elected Christians into the Presidential office? 52 times? Consecutively?
So, yes. I think that there are a lot of Christians out there who would actually love nothing more than to be persecuted and martyred for their faith. Even if they have to manufacture the persecution themselves.

I hardly think that they control the US courts.
But,since many people on here think that the US is the only country on Earth,I'll share a little secret with you.
Not everyone on here, when they talk about persecution,is talking about the US.
Christians are being killed.Over 120,000 are being martyred each year in countries across the globe.Millions have been killed in Africa by Arab Muslims.
Is that not persecution? If you think that Christians over the world are getting an easy ride, and are not facing any problems, then you are beyond help.

You have no idea what you are talking about. There is very little religeous persecution in the U.S. and a few other countries.
In most of the world,Christians are being tortured and murdered for simply sharing their faith.
A friend of mine wrote a book: "Tortured for Christ" many years ago and founded an organization called "The Voice of the Martyrs"....if so inclined, you may consider a free subscription to ttheir monthly magazine. He spent 14 years in prison and endured unspeakable tortures, often times as much as 17 hrs a day,for not denying Jesus Christ to obtain his immediate release.

Do you not agree that Christians endure a large amount of ridicule right here on Yahoo for one. I myself don't feel like a poor little christian. And I haven't insulted people of other groups or religion either. If you are not a believer, then why do you call on Jesus' name? If you want to be in politics, strive to do so. There is nobody keeping you from reaching your goals and dreams.

You know, atheists seem to be the one who bring this subject up all the time. . .I don't recall ever hearing any of my Christian friends say that they feel persecuted. A little annoyed, maybe, by the underhandedness of some people who would just as soon see us stripped of our civil rights.
But persecuted, no. We know the sufferings that Christians have undergone in countries such as Russia and China -- imprisonment, torture, starvation, and death. THAT is real persecution .

Yes, of course they do. Their bible teaches them to be exactly that way. Listen to the quotes "Christ said that people would be that way to us and they are".
