I would take a shot of high percent alcohol like a whiskey or rum and you will be fine. This will sanitize the cut and relieve the pain.

If there is not a deep cut (in which case I would go to your doctor for some sutures,) then just buy some Crest Pro Health. It is made with an agent to kill bacteria. Use this mouth wash a few times a day to help keep the bacterial count low enough for the wound to heal. Just take a mouth full and swish it around for 20-30 seconds and spit it out. Do it after meals and before bedtime. Keeping the wound clean will keep the pain down.

Did you know that out of all of your body parts your tongue heals the fastest. You would treat it just like you got your tongue pierced but on a smaller scale. Gargle with a mouth wash to clean it if you are really worried, but not needed. If it is painfull eat some ice cream to numb it and just leave it alone. Have a good day!

You can swish with any antiseptic mouthwash. You should do this when you wake up in the morning, after eating or drinking, after smoking (if you smoke), and before bedtime. If the pain is really bothering you, get some Anbesol or OraGel -or even something for babies that are teething and apply as needed (according to package directions.)
Keep your eye on the wound and if any signs of infection show up (redness, swelling), go to your regular doctor. If no signs of infection, I would imagine that it would heal up in a few days (3-5).
Best of Luck!

I don't know what the stuff is called, but my brother uses it for canker sores. He says it tastes like crap, but it stops the pain. Run by Walgreens or your closest pharmacy and ask about it :D

dilute some hydrogen peroxide with some water and rinse your mouth out with that, as it will help to speed up the healing.
