Roll them instead of laying them flat. They wont wrinkle as bad, and you get lots more in the suitcase. I've done it for years. It works.

Roll 'em and hold them in place with rubber bands. I spent two years backpacking with far too much crap (not the viking helmet, that was essential) and rubber bands make it a lot easier, nothing unrolls.
