And, why doesn't he do it? We've been at it for over four years now.

Alpha Mail, how long does it take to train those guys? We've been at it for 4 years. And, Rumsfeld said there were 120,000 of them ready to go 3 years ago.

Here's a status report on how the Iraqi training was going in September, 2004 when Rumsfeld said 260,000 Iraqis were ready to go.

Good plan Alpha Mail.

He doesn't
He plans to leave the war and the Trillion Dollar Debt to his successor.
Then the Republicans will cry tax and spend when the democrats have to pay for this mess.

As long as the war is being micromanaged by the politicians there is no way we can have a clear and decisive victory.
I think things have changed so much Bush's original plan has turned into a fighting standoff.
Which means there is no plan. That's how war is, it never goes by the plan anyway.
The best we can do is to get the Iraqi's able to contain the insurgents, and get the hell out of there.
It doesn't make sense to throw lives away on a war they won't let our troops win. We either clean house, turn the war over to the generals, or get out.
They wouldn't let the happen in my war, and they won't let it happen in Iraq. I think we could kick all their ***'s but not with Congress and the UN calling the shots.
Our only option is to get out and hope they all kill each other.

The cynic in me says that he has no plans to end the war.
So far, he has only talked about winning and a victory strategy, and unless he lowers the bar for what 'victory' means, he will hand off his military situation when the next president takes the oath of office in January 2009.
I suspect GWB has plans to keep a large number of US troops long-term, if not permanently based in the Gulf region, as a trigger in case any other nations decide to threaten Iraq or allies of the US.
The US still has troops in Japan (Okinawa) and Germany since 1945, and South Korea since 1953. Four years is hardly any time at all.

Oh for the last time.
Okay go get all of your little liberal, brainwashed friends and pay attention. We're tired of telling you all this.
The strategy to end the war in Iraq is (Drum Roll).
Train the Iraqi Security Forces to defend themselves and, as they become more and more proficient, gradually start to step back and allow them to police more of their country.
Much like our great friends the Brits have recently done in Basra.
We SOLDIERS are doing this right this moment, while you sleep in your bed or talk on your cell phone or sit at your computer. Give us some time will yah? It took America longer than this to be free.
Got it? So stop acting like there's no plan.
It's been taking a while yes, but we started from complete scratch. We're actually making pretty good progress with them. Our biggest issue is that they are volunteering in such high numbers that we don't even employ enough seasoned intructors to teach them quick enough and still train our own military. These people brave suicide bombs, drive by shootings and terrorist attacks just to stand in line to defend their country.
The liberal media never tells you about the good news though. It's sad really. If you really want to know how things are going in Iraq, ask the troops in Iraq. They'll tell you.

We will only stop fighting radical Islam when we either kill or convert all of them.......so it may take a while. Why is it that liberals never worry about the when we are going to end the "war on poverty".We have spent over 5 trillion (5,000,000,000,000) dollars and have torn many families apart. It has been a disaster, but liberals don't want to stop taking money from hard working people and give it to people who are unproductive.
