Some say that Jesus is God, some say he's not. Some say that God disapproves of gays, some say that he loves everyone. Some say that God wants you to be rich, some say poverty is a blessing. Catholics and Protestants have FOUGHT WARS just to claim that they are the ones who are right. Whatever happened to "thou shalt not murder?"

If Christians can't even agree on these basic principles, how can their religion be taken seriously?

Wouldn't god want his faithful to be more in unity? All I hear everyday is endless bickering between [mostly] the Protestants and the Catholics....

You're absolutely right. Christians can't even get it right amongst themselves. Yet they are trying to get it right amongst everybody else. And they expect people to take them seriously.

1) The New Testament is clear that Jesus is divine and above any other being, but whether he is the same essence as the Father, or some slightly lower figure, is not clear. He was submissive to his Father on earth, but in heaven will he be the submissive son or the Reigning Lord? The New Testament is not clear on that but orthodox Christians at least believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, but if the three are one is more determined by your own understanding. Some have no problem believing in it, others do, but so long as they believe in all three its fine.

2) God disapproves of homosexuality, which is a part of sexuality immorality which is repeatedly condemned throughout the Bible, Old and New Testaments. True Christians do not support homosexuality of course but neither do they cast stones. Also, Christians are not allowed to relax God's law and permit openly homosexual people to be a member of the church, we have to keep the church free from hypocrisy.

3) If God provides wealth, then why not accept? But we can never let our wealth consume us.

4) People crave power, they want to be realized as the true branch. They should know that all who are under Christ are brethren.

Somethings they do and somethings they don't, that's why there is so many different Denominations. They all can't agree on the same interpretations of scripture. Some scriptures are uncomfortable to some, so the broke off and formed their own denomination and some people pick which one that they can be comfortable with, without studying the Word to see what it really says. I think it is a shame, because it causes a lot of confusing among the people in believing.

Jesus is God in human form. God disapproves of being gay, but he loves the gay person. God wants you to be happy, poor or rich, and who has ever said that poverty is a blessing? Are you kidding me?

Christians can't agree with each other for the same reason siblings can't agree with each other. Their difference, honestly, are trivial.

The bible is a e book and each and each unmarried man or woman in this Earth will interpret it otherwise. it truly is the great aspect about literature, you are able to make it advise regardless of the truth that you want. Take Henry the eighth of england case in point. He wanted an annulment from his spouse Katherine of Aragon because they did no longer have any sons so he scoured the bible for something to apply on the trial. He stumbled on a passage that became suitable because he took it to signify god had cursed him for marrying his brother's widow (which Katherine became). He then skipped over the passage that in reality stated it became alright to marry your brother's widow. My aspect is: do not trouble about what easily everyone else says or thinks. the in reality issue that count number number for you is the way you interpret the bible and its meaning.

So I should agree to hate gay people, call them names and treat them like dirt, and I should agree to accept a shallow, literal interpretation of something that I find far more profound, and I should never challenge any so-called preacher no matter how self-serving all for the sake of unity? I don’t think so.

Sorry, I will follow the example set by Christ and stand up to those who use scripture to advance their own agenda.

More than unity, we need honest debate.

Good points Dolly. All of these religions don't agree because they're just wrong about everything. There is not one thing you've listed that is actually proven in the Bible. All of these religions have their own agendas but none of it honors God.

It's all in the interpretation of Scripture. Some say this, some say that. I say look to the source. Go back to the Church's infancy and find out what it said back then before it got polluted.

You are right, Dutch Dolly.

Seems strange how a religion under "one God" has thousands of denominations...
