Likely? Not really however it is possible. Most retainers are made of a form of your pallet and wire. Wire can be bent however orthodontic wire is pretty resistant to change however it is possible to bend them out of shape. Also the hard plastic pallet mold can crack if it is put under a substantial ammount of weight. I would suggest keeping it in the case at all times when not in use. Also if you have dogs or cats, make sure to keep that case inside of a drawer. Because of the shape pets seem to view retainers as the perfect toy and can ruin them in a heart beat. To care for your retainer and keep it in best shape soak it during the day in a denture cleanser and rinse it off before and after you use it.

Hope this helps!

Are you doing anything specific with your retainer that could cause a problem?
There are 2 places your retainer should be- your mouth and the case. Never wrap it in paper and place it anywhere- pocket, someone's purse, cafeteria tray, school desk. They get thrown out. Never leave it around the house- even on the bathroom counter. Animals like to play with them- they're a nice lightweight toy.
When you place it in your container, add a small amount of cool water. Never add mouthwash- it distorts it.
Brush it daily, especially the rough surface.
Never place in a warm spot-dashboard, window sill, etc.
Common Sense will prevent you from needing to replace it.
And follow your doctor instructions on when to wear it. They can tell when you haven't- sometimes you talk funny, or it's not loose at all.
Don't take it in and out of your mouth repeatedly with your tongue or fingers. If it feels funny, or something happens, call the Dr.

Remember, if you don't wear it your teeth can shift.

Do you mean the hairy little guy at the Adams household? Probably depends on how badly you have aggravated him. Just don't bend over.
