This guy who calls himself Phyllis 4 JC keeps e-mailing me, begging me to stop thinking and being logical, and be more like him. Here is his last message:
"Mr. Immature Simpleton at it again I guess. You know, if you've got all the answers to life, why not share them? What could be more fictional than evolution, than humanism, than buddhism...shall I go on? Instead of being a total *** and spewing your demonic B.S., why don't you offer up a few solutions for us poor deluded souls...but wait, that would mean you'd have to think of putting a few words together without profanities. I guess I ask too much."
Does anyone know what his problem is? Is this how xians talk to people?? Do they actually think this is what jesus asked them to do? To talk down to people? Does jesus tell his followers to act this way? Is this meant to impress people?? I'd like some of jesus' followers to tell me if this is for real, or if this dude is just an imposter...

Sorry, just noticed the typo in my main question line -- it should read "Why do christians always talk down to people?"

thanks john.
you talk down to people like this other guy does. thanks for showing me that people who are ******* can do the same thing while trying to act intelligent and self-important. i was only asking a question about this person's e-mail, and it's behavior that i see here a lot from people who say they are christians, hence my question.
cheers!

wefschmeckle below said: "You are guilty of doing the same thing you are accusing Christians of."
Well, that's all fine and good, but i don't have a book and a savior allegedly telling me not to behave that way. christians claim to have all these rules and tenets and "higher standards" than non-bible-believers like me.
So, why compare yourself to me when you claim your standards are higher and you claim your cult is the correct one? It's your book and your savior that allegedly tell you to behave in a certain way toward others. Not mine -- so don't tell me that I should behave to YOUR standard, when you and yours clearly do not.
Sorry, but that dog won't hunt!

Well first of all not all Christians talk down to people. Jesus treated everyone the same. Remember we are only human and are sinners saved by grace. You have a right to believe whatever you want. But as a professor of Sociology I can tell by the way you have written your letter you enjoy the conflict. You should not come on here and re post an email that someone has sent you. It is against the law. Email is considered personal and if I were you I would delete this post as soon as possible. Never ever re post an email sent to you, its like opening someones mail and putting it on the news without there expressed permission.

Lots of Christians do talk down, and it can totally turn people in the other direction. The example that Jesus gave was to embrace those to come and listen to what you have to say and to listen to them and to help them lovingly. Not to force-feed them the word and tell them that they are wrong. Your friend probably thinks he is helping you, but he is most likely putting you running in the other direction. This guy's love for Jesus and the word might be real, but that's the only way he knows how to follow it and he is not a fake Christian (I mean, who would want to be one of those? Showing a life in God doesn't exactly seem to be the most encouraged thing in these days by the media and the public, so why would you fake it when you can just deny it and make life easier?). Some people are meant to be shepherds and guide others lovingly to God, and some just wish they were.

You know, I agree. Some Christians do act like they're better than non-Christians. But they're not. Jesus said to be humble, and this 'Phyllis 4 JC' character should get his nose into the Bible and see what he should be doing. Maybe Christians just need to realize that they can't FORCE people to become Christians, it's freewill. I think that when Christians act that way, it turns that person even more away from accpeting Christ. I myself am a Christian, but I've got enough brians to realize that some 'Christians' so act this way.

I think its important for us to remember that christians are people too. we're not perfect, we're forgiven. Dont listen to that guy. He's a sinner too, just like you and I. You say that Jesus would never say anything like that to you, and you're right. Jesus is Loving, and non-judgemental, he accepts you as you are. He knows and wants whats best for you. I dont think all christians are judgemental, some are. everyone is judgemental to some degree, its something I have to work on. I think some christians get so frustrated with people that don't belive because they themselves belive so strongly. sometimes we dont know how to come across the way we should. Im sorry for what he said. Jesus would simply say to you....come and see.

To me no Christian should talk down to no one. Jesus did not when he was on earth, in fact he went where some other criticized him to reach out to the ones around him. The reason He did was to show his Love to them. I teach Sunday School @ my church we had a lesson where Jesus called Mathew ( one of the !2 disciples). he was a tax collector. Tax collectors were considered sinners not ones to be hanging around with but Jesus came and ate with Mathew and his friends. So Jesus never talked down to no one and neither should I as a Christian.
Jesus Loves You!!!!

Not all Christians do, and they shouldn't. The Jesus I know taught love and acceptance, not hate and intolerance. Unfortunately, it's the 'false' Christians that are the most vocal. I'm so sorry you seem to have run into mostly false Christians.

I'm sorry you were treated this way. I recently was treated like garbage by a guy who claims to be Catholic. I don't know about Xians, but apparently you ruffed this guys feathers and now he feels the need to ruff yours. Ignore it and remember, Jesus came for a reason, he doesnt' want anyone to go to hell.
This is not what Jesus teaches us to do. Again, I'm sorry for your experience.

All christians do not talk down to people. I think this guy is wrong the way he is talking to you. It seems like he is just fustrated with you and you not believing. You have every right not to believe in God. He gave you that choice. But are you sure it is the right choice. Are you sure there is no God. What if there is, and when you die you do go to heaven or hell. It is to big of a risk to take. Try to think it over. And if this guy keeps messing with you, ask him to take a long hard look at himself. Christians are not suppose to judge, unless you want to be judge.

My goodness, if that's real, that's a horrible thing to say, to anyone. No, Christians should not be speaking in such a way, that is very unloving and definately not Christ-like.
But hey, there are immature people everywhere, even in Christianty :)

That's one thing that turns people away from true Christianity. True Christians should never look/talk down on others because of their beliefs.
