i would try and oatmeal bath rinse very clean(i use a shower head on a hose...it works great at getting out all the soap... i have heard a few friends use dove sensitive body wash for humans and it works...i would also get some vitamin E oil and put it on her skin if she has hot/bald spots...maybe try a raw diet and remove all grains the dog gets.....and all my dogs get garlic tablets for humans..and follow what the bottle says... it could be a flea problem, a shep i had was allergic to fleas...after i started giving garlic in flea season we have never had any itching from fleas...
because there are none!
oh and steroids are not good....they will make one fat dog! so i would really try the E oil on her hot spot.

Steriods are bad for dogs, begging, always hungry, getting fat, mood swings and just an all round butch b*tch. If its a heeler, i am afraid that allergies are part and parcel of that breed. If its a shepard or sheltie, then you might want to check if its a sensitivity to fabric eg carpet. Cook her food yourself, lean lamb, turkey and chicken mince, rice thats cooked so well its falling apart and raw grated carrot, raw grated broccoli stem, shredded spinach(steamed), raw peas and grated raw apple, and add a raw egg every day. Or check out the B.A.R.F. diet. My doberman has bad skin problems, so bad she was recieving weekly cortisone shots. The raw veges are the best, raw carrot is great for the skin, as is the apple, and the others are good natural iron resources. If you can get hold of some, use some emu oil on the bare patches(expensive but great). It lubricates and barriers the skin and if there is any mites or creepy crawlies it will kill them. Also add some zinc tablets to her diet, also good for a dogs skin.

You really should take her back to the vet and get her more meds. Some dogs have to have meds all their life. If you are giving her baths --you may not be getting all of the soap off of her skin. Not her hair -her skin. Just take her back to the vet. He can help you more than any diet or anything else out there. She'll really be suffering soon. Fleas are trying to wake up. Just waiting. She sounds like she's miserable. Take her to a vet. He's the only one that can really help you and your DOG. Treat her like you would one of your children. Shes sick-the doctor. It's the same for your dog or any other pet.

I would try a dog food without corn in it. From everything I've ever been told about pet food, cats and dogs should not be eating corn. It is used as a filler and isn't really that good for them. I've had a lot of luck going to the local PetCo and asking them what they recommend. Good luck!

Go the NUTRO dog food site and check out their line of dog food. Right now I have one of my Golden's on their sensitive skin formula and it's done wonders!
I feed all my other Golden's their large breed formula and the pups on the puppy food for lrge breed puppy's.
I love their food and it has been working for me for years.
Personally I dont like Science Diet. Neither did my dogs

I had a poodle-bull dog mix with the same problem I used a raw egg for about a week mixed with her food and then switched to veg. oil (teaspoon for 12 lb. dog) thru the winter months. also if the dog drags it's butt it may be the anal gland a vet can show you how to fix that.

Steroids on a dog huh? turn in that sick vet of yours into a holding cell and beat the crap out of that butt hole and smack him with a stethoscope, docs are weak against those.
