If a child has pink eye should they stay home from school?How contagious is it?

Stay home if they are young, if they are say middle school or high school it should be okay but I still wouldn't risk it. PS tell them not to itch it.

Infectious forms of (conjunctivitis) pink eye are highly contagious and are spread by direct contact with infected persons. If you or your child has infectious pink eye, avoid touching the eye area and wash your hands frequently. There are 2 types though noninfectious and of course infectious. I am guessing only a Dr. knows which one they have. In other words keep your child home.

Yes, it is contagious for 24 hours after they start a prescription eye drop. They should stay home till that time frame has passed

Usually the kids stay home for the first day. It's contagious more with kids because they dont wash their hands as much as adults.
