Easter, also known as Pascha (Greek Πάσχα: Passover), the Feast of the Resurrection, the Sunday of the Resurrection, or Resurrection Day, is the most important religious feast of the Christian liturgical year, observed between late March and late April (early April to early May in Eastern Christianity). It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, which his followers believe occurred on the third day after his death by crucifixion some time in the period AD 27 to 33 (see Good Friday). In the Roman Catholic Church, Easter is actually an eight-day feast called the Octave of Easter.

Easter also refers to the season of the church year, lasting for fifty days, from Easter Sunday through Pentecost.

Easter is the pagan festival of high spring, celebrating life in full bloom and fertility. Easter is also named Eostre, Oestre, Ostara, and Ishtar. Her symbols are the moon and the rabbit, and also eggs, all symbols of fertility and new and abundant life.

Although the sabbat of Ostara is on the Spring Equinox, the feast day is the first Sunday after the first full moon after it.

Christians later adopted the day to celebrate the resurrection of their deity, which is just another symbol for new and continuing life.

2000 years ago rabbits were still evolving from reptiles . They layed shiny colourful eggs and all the children would run around looking for them.Unfortunately the government at the time thought this was not a good thing to do so they made the children hold buns with crosses on them for their soldiers to aim at. Often because they would hold their buns at arms length they would be shot through the hands but that is another story.

Jesus' tomb is empty. He lives in our hearts. We celebrate His resurrection on Easter Sunday. He is risen! Alleluia!
