My coworker claims she is allergic to seed, we work in a seed warehouse. We blend the seed together so dust goes everywhere and the guys track it in and out all day long. There is only me and her in the office so I am the one who has to clean and run allover the warehouse to find people and items. She says she cant do all that because she will have to go to the hospital but wouldnt it affect her daily???? When we sweep big clumps of seed and dust off the shelves wouldnt she get sick. I feel it is unfair for her to sit there all day long and for her to boss me around because she will get sick. She also said she cant help me carry 20 boxes of paper upstairs because of her heart. Now dont get me wrong people I dont care to work but I feel it is unfair for her to make false claims just so she wont have to do much. I just dont see the difference of seed and dust from the outside and the inside so how is she sick when she goes out but is fine inside. She said the doc told her for sure that s

I have severe allergies and would not be able to work there period. If there is that much dust no kidding you would be calling the ambulance to get me out of there alive. Your co-worker is lying to you. She is lazy and just does not want to work. Tell your boss and get her to bring a note from a specialist.

I believe she is lying. I had a coworker just like that and I confronted her. Not directly though, I don't like getting into "it". But I did go to a doctor and online and found information about what she was allergic to and found proof that if she was really allergic to it, then it would affect her anywhere she was. Plus I did go to my boss and told her that I was uncomfortable with the situation of having to do all the run around while that girl just sat there in the office. As for the heart condition I would say she just doesn't like climbing stairs. I work in a hospital now and I know a lot of people with heart conditions from mild to sever and they are actually encouraged to exercise. But not to the extreme. I think that if she shared the work load of carrying things upstairs and not picked up to much then she could help you out. If you need print everything you can find from the net and leave it where she can find it. But before you show it to your coworker, you should talk to your supervisor and show him/her the material and tell him/her how you feel about it all. I hope this helps.

my husband sells seed and I think you are being had!!If the dust is in the office what do you think she's breathing?! It would already be effecting her and wouldn't you think that if people have allergies from trees and flowers and it bothers them outside is any different than inside with dust? Tell her to get off her lazy *** or find someone to do it for you!

sounds like you are being had this is one lazy chick
she can use a nose cover to protect her from the seed DUST
if she is a young person she should be able to carry her load like anyone else
if she has allergies she should have a puffer with her and be using it too
if she denies this make her get a note from her Dr proving she cant do things or hire someone who will do the job

ask her why she took this job in the first place. She so does not deserve this job. Tell your boss.
