I mean the only choices are obviously charlatans , who prey on the homebound, inferm, and elderly . Without being to name specific , even Christians have to admit these guys are crooks and in most cases heretical in their teachings. Shouldnt God see to it that people like this dont prosper, so as to not decieve the elect and others who may be watching religious programming for revalation or guidance?. People believe that God would not allow the written Bible to be corrupted , However the only source of instruction many people have most certainly is.

hmm..... I think that the evangelists on t.v. are extremely passionate, and may seem over the top to someone who isn't a beliver. I am a Christian and even i sometimes think....wow they seem a little overboard and cheesy, but then i remember that we are supposed to be bold faced and passionate and enthusiastic about our God. I admire their faith and joy in the Lord. There's nothing wrong with them being excited about God. And whether or not they are trying to make money, I shouldn't be the one judging their goal. I admire them getting the word out. and people are being pointed to the lord by them, regardless of whether they are making money or not. And ultimately if we are confused about something they are saying, or we disagree, we should just look to the Bible, study it for ourselves, pray it in, and come to our own conclusions.

God treats people like adults. They have the responsibility of figuring out that these charlatans on television, continually demanding money, and making extravagant promises, have nothing to do with Jesus Christ. They could easily check out some local churches, and find out from them if those televangelists are legitimate. Most of them do not have church associations behind them.
The Billy Graham Association, for example, is legit. All they preach is the Gospel.
They are not interested in big buldings and driving around in Mercedes. There are other reputable ones too, I suppose. But anybody who really wants to can find out.
But some people just love to be fooled. Did you notice? God won't force them to be different.

You must understand this : The kind of people that you are referring to are not of God. God did not 'come up' with them as evangelists. They are simply doing things in God's name, and they will pay the price for their acts. Each man must stand in front of God to answer for what he has done in his life, good or bad.

The type of 'evangelist' that you speak of, and the gay catholic priests, and the perverted pastors that prey on others are cloaked. Disguised as what they appear to be. They always were. They simply needed the opportunity to present itself to remove their cloak, and be what they were all along. Why people start bashing God, and bashing true striving Christians when these things happen is beyond me. I believe that God de-cloaks these people to show the world that this person or that person is not what he appears to be, and definitely does not speak for God.

Jim Bakker was a prime example. He bilked millions of people. God let him be revealed for what he was, and he paid the price for it. Jimmy Swaggert, same thing.

God will not allow these people to keep going for long. He works in His time, not ours. Some people may NEVER be exposed in this life, but you can be sure that they will pay on the day of judgement.

You'll never get rid of them, because faith is an excuse (a command!) not to use your head and so Christians have traditionally been suckers for this sort of thing.

And it doesn't just extend to the "spiritual" world, it's with everything. You see the local news do one of those segments on a money scam of some sort? Nine out of ten times, the sucker will profess their belief in God or how they're a good Christian. It's uncanny, actually.

The nature of religion is control and greed.

I dont believe in god per se, but even i wouldnt fault him with these goofs like falwell.

If a person wants to send their hard earned money to bennie hinn, i think its their right. Mind you its also their right to have a lobotomy.

God is more a "hit the streets" kind of God

If Jesus was here today in the flesh, that's what he would do.

Have a car, boat, plane and touch them where they are.
