Yes, send a thank you card for both. Be sure to mention what the gift was and what you intend to do with it/use it for. Make it as personal as possible, and maybe even mention how nice it was for them to come to your shower/wedding. Congrats on your upcoming nuptials.
We sent a wallet size picture of us at our wedding in our thank you cards (we got them by the time we got back from our honeymoon). For those that attended, but gave no gift (some had to travel from afar, so that was their gift) I sent them a thank you note with a picture, thanking them for sharing our day.

Of course you send thank yous for wedding shower gifts. Do them right after, or you'll run into time conflicts with doing the thank yous for the wedding gifts.

It is appropriate to send handwritten thank-you notes for any gift you receive, regardless of occasion; if the person was thoughtful enough to give you a gift, sending a thank-you is correct etiquette. Don't you like getting thank-yous? :)
If the shower gift & the wedding gift are given within a close time frame, seems like it'd be fine to thank the person for both within one note.

For both. You should actually send a thank-you note for every gift you receive whether it was from the shower, the wedding or just from a casual acquaintance who was invited to neither.

You should send both. The shower thank you notes should go out before the wedding if possible.

Thank you cards for wedding shower are a must. Hand written by you with a personal note stating that you loved their particular gift. (Keep a record of who gave what). Then after you get married and you get your photos back from the photographer, send out a thank you card with photo of you and your husband with a note stating thank you for sharing our special day with us and thank you so much for your generous gift. You can hand write it or have it printed; hand writing it is more personal. Best of Luck

If you get a gift, they get a thank you card... whether it be at the wedding shower, the wedding, or a month later. Oh, and people will be looking for those thank you cards.... TRUST ME!

You should properly thank someone anytime in life that you recieve a gift. A thank you card is a proper way to thank someone who has given you a gift.
