It is a national disgrace, hats off to the people who brought it out in the open so it can be fixed. I do not think it will deter people from going into the service. They go there to serve their country not to worry about their care if the get wounded.

Yes, it will because it will give many a excuse not to go into the Military.
My husband is a Disabled US Marineand loved it when he was in. it is the treatment that he and other Vetrans get that sucks with the VA hospitals. Almost all of the doctors that work at the VA. are not even doctors they are interns and are not licensed in the state that they are working in or are not even a US Citizens. Like my husband, a lot of vetrans are still fighting for there benefits. And something needs to be done so the vetrans will get what they are entitled to, because a lot are living below the poverty level.

People join the military for all sorts of reasons for some its a family tradition, for some they want to see the world, for some its a way to fund their education, some join to defend the country, some like the way the uniforms have an effect on women but I have never heard of anyone joining to get good health care..... The reasons for joining have not really changed and enlistment is not effected even by the war so I doubt Walter Reed will have any effect.

Yes I think that the conditions the army hospitals are in will make people not want to join, I have a friend who wanted to join the army , but after the hospital incident hes thinking twice, about it. This is a problem that has to be fixed immediately its is unfair to those who have served and have come here injured, expecting to recieve proper care and instead get put in theese rat infested badly maintained hospitals. Not all people whould think this is enough reason for not joining the military , I want to join the USMC

No, Our local soldiers here reported having excellent treatment at that hospital. Some of them have just arrived home from that hospital just recently. The issue is being addressed and they have already made major improvements in the room conditions.

The VA I go to is better than any civilian hospital and I should know, I've worked in three hospitals in my area.

No, mostly because people won't think it will happen to them.

And it won't... most of them will come home safe and of those that are injured, most will recieve the care they need. It is only a small minority you are hearing about in the news.

As Nam Vet, it is Immorally inexcusable, but in-keeping with the self-righteous religious and neo-conservative right wing; who have historically been wrong!
