Come on baby... You try to make up for the image. Just tell me what's so natural about Islam.
1> Is it Polygamy?
2> Is it women exploitation?
3> Is it Jihaad?
4> Is it beliveing that all non Islamic people are their enemies?
5> Is it barbarian treatment towards human beings?
There are a lot more questions to be asked. But justify these before I head on with the list.
All the best...
:-)

Islam like Christianity is a religion propagated by a true saint and has an honourable place in the hearts of those who feel religion to be a tool for attaining the soul's real aim.
However to practice a religion properly , one will need the help of a spiritual guide. It can not be, the present day Imams and Mullahs, who are taking religion to be a tool for counter offending other religions.
If Jesus or prophet Mohammed was availale during those times, it is common sense to believe that there will be some saint available today also.
And what was the religion practiced before these saints were there? Obviously there is more to religion than Hinduism, Islam or Christianity etc.
There is one religion that is for all of us to practice and that is Universal Eternal Religion. You can not practice it by reading holy books. You need the help of a spiritual guide(a true saint). It is impossible in the God's universe that a true saint is not available for us. If that were the case then, practicing any religion would have been futile.
So let us follow the most NATURAL RELIGION and be humble to the fellow beings.
We all are natural human beings and need to follow the natural religion to achieve our common goal.

Not everyone believes that Islam is Natural Religion.
Every religion "Does" believe that we have a connection to a spiritual world beyond our own.
The difference between the religions is how we interact with that spiritual realm right?
If you are practiving weird religions like wicca, could say that you are having interactions with spiritual beings good or bad.
Most holy books say we are judged on our actions. If you religion causes you to do something that a moral and just God would consider wrong, then you are probuly not following the correct religion.
It is also important to consider the history of religion, and who made it.
Historically, most of the middle eastern religions start with Abriham. (pardon my spelling) who had 2 son's Issacc and Ishmael. Both the Koran and the bible and tora recognise this.
This section of the Tora (Jewish Holy Book) was written about 1500 BC, in this version, Ishmael was vilent and not blessed by God. The bible carried forward this tradition when it was assembled in 300 AD, since the jewish scriptures were used by most all Christians at the time.
2100 years after the Tora was written, the Koran was put together using the same Jewish scriptures. I'm guessing this was done to unite the Arabs by King Mohommed under a common religion. Though most all of the Charactors in the Scriptures are Jewish in the actual texts, when the Koran was created, the charactors became arab.
Also, in the formation of the Koran, Issacc was replaced by Ishmael, as Gods chosen son. While the events in the stories stay relatively the same, this changes the belief structure significantly.
Other things that were happening at the time of the Koran (about 650AD) was that the Arab empire was expanding. In order to put a religius motivation behind the expansion, the laws of Jihad were established and written into the Koran, this legalized the killing of non-moslems, Jews and Christians for the purpose of taking over their lands, specifically Jerusilim.
This consolidation of Holy Books (Bible and Tora) into the Koran by one person (possibly mohammed) made for a book with very little inconsistancies, this adds to the power of the book. However, when compaired to the earlier text, such as the dead see scroles, (500 years earlier) it is easy to see that it was a political manuver.
Because Islam's holy book is politically charged, many of the teachings are not considered "Good" by members of other religions. For example:
I person who leaves Islam must be killed, whereas in the bible, a person who leaves the faith must be prayed for.
In Islam a woman who marries a non-moslem must be killed. According to the bible, she must pray for her husband and stay with him for life.
And so on.
A good way to test your Faith is to pray about it. The fruits of Gods spirit are these - LOVE, JOY , PEACE, PATENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, THANKFULLNESS, FORGIVENESS, and SELF CONTROL.
If you faith make you feel anything other than these things... such as anger towards another Human being, then those feeling are not of God.

Islam is spoiling it's own image across the world. The peace loving members of Islam, should rise up against the hate mongers amongst them and cast them out. There are a select few who are causing Islam's image to crumble. I know most people of the Islam faith are decent caring people. Those who are decent, need to stand up and fight for the name of Islam.
Islam is judged by the action or inaction of the normal, caring followers and how they react to the needless bloodshed a few of their members are causing. More needs to be done and more need to get involved in stopping the hate.
God Bless You....Peace.

I am a non-Muslim who happens to be an atheist. For me, all religions have the same basic flaw -- they require that one believe in the existence of one (or more) super-natural deities. The inability to believe in God is precisely what keeps me from being a Christian. It would also prevent me from becoming a Muslim, where the consequences of my atheism would be much more severe. With all due respect, the first step toward faith has to be knowing that God is real, and that is something I have never been able to do. Edit: I do agree with "yarn *****" (above) in that moderate muslims need to do something to curtail the actions of the extremists within Islam, before you can expect moderate Christians to show much interest in Islam. As an American, I find the total absence of Muslim liberals and moderates working for peace most disturbing. If Islam is truly a religion of peace and love, where are those who love peace? May your faith bring you peace and contentment.....

No one is trying to spoil its image, but some misguided members of the religion, or who claim to be, are resorting to violence and terrorism, bringing shame and bad name on the whole community and religion.

Why should you be concerned with what non-muslims think of your religion?
If they are not a part - it does not matter. You cannot have everyone in the world agreeing with you until such time as you are the only person left in the world.

I think your opening gambit is flawed. I had no clue...i always thought that all religions strived to reunite with their creator and the influence thereof. Besides, any religion that is used as an excuse to kill has kind of blown their good press already and dont need our help. Do you know any killer buddhists ?
