find out what will happen if you switch to a new medicine and what will happen if you don't. If the old medicine hasn't been helping for a week or two, then it is not working, and you should switch to a new medicine, unless the medicine is suppose to be slow working.

Just ask the second Doctor when you can start the new medication. The period for your hives to clear because of an allergic reaction will be generally set, afterwards you should be fine.
