Not necessarily, if you live in a part of the country where the
weather isn't so good. It doesn't matter where you're walking
as long as you do it! I personally will not go out and walk when
it's cold or raining or snowing and it gets dark so early in winter
that it's dark by the time I get home from work. I live in the
midwest, so we don't have great weather all the time. Plus in
the summer the ozone alerts are bad and if you have asthma,
it's hard and unhealthy to breathe outside.

Gee, you are so judgemental, and wrong. Some people need to stay indoors due to weather conditions or other health conditions, or due to the need to take care of children at home.

It's true that many people who buy exercise equipment don't use it. It is also true that many people who say they want to walk outdoors for exercise never do it. So it has nothing at all to do with buying equipment or not.

While it's true that some people use their exercise equipment more as glorified coat racks than anything else, some of us do in fact utilize them for their intended purposes. I for one live in an area with many gangs, so staying inside to exercise is more of a safety issue than anything else. The only people running outside here aren't doing it for the exercise. =P

I dont think so at all. I work out at home as well as the gym.. I just dont like the outdoors.. I am not lazy and I am in great shape. I dont go to the gym to chat or hang out I go to sweat, but at 4 in the morning before work I would rather look aweful in bed head and run at home on my expensive equipment.

Sometimes it's too cold/hot for people to walk outside due to medical conditions. Sometimes people prefer a treadmill because it is more comfortable. I would rather run on a treadmill then outside because it makes my knees hurt. I'm sure some people have this problem but its wrong to overgeneralize.
