I would need to know what verse you are looking at to examine the context. The rapture can occur at any moment before the antichrist comes to power. They will be taken up to be with Jesus until the second coming after the antichrist commits the "abomination of desolation". When they return with Christ, He will set up a Kingdom on earth for 1,000 years. Between the rapture and the second coming, the bible says that God will destroy "those who destroy the earth". You are correct in that the righteous shall remain in the long run.

Paul writes of the "raptured" away as an explanation for Christians who feared they would be left out it they were still alive when Jesus returns. As far as the righteous remaining on the earth - you need to go back to your source as the bible states there will be a new heaven and earth.
Over all, confusion is understandable as God is interested in our faith life NOW w/ Him not a Lollipop reward later.

I think the righteous will be removed first, then Jesus comes back and takes care of the problem and they are removed and we live on earth again.

I think you have verses mixed up.

The dead in Christ will rise first then those abiding in Christ who remain in Him (oil lamp full) will be caught up to be with the Lord.

This will open the way for the Antichrist (man of lawlessness), and the beast & false prophet to rule for a season. It is the Holy Spirit & the Body of Christ that prevents lawlessness.

The rapture is not a scriptural teaching. Most people who believe in the rapture prove it by taking a couple of scriptures out of context.

Guess he removes them, so he can destroy the wicked, then sets them back up again with the new heaven & earth.

Wow, you mean, a whole new pangea?
