Fruit: apple, orange, bunch of grapes, strawberries, pear, etc.

Cut vegetables such as carrots, celery sticks, broccoli, etc.

Pieces of cheese, sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts, and other types of nuts, etc.

Fresh fruit juices, granola bars, healthy sandwiches or wraps for a main meal.

There are lists and lists of food you can bring to maintain a healthy diet. You'll learn as you go along. Take a trip to the grocery store with your mom/dad and look around. You'll be amazed at what you'll find!

Fill tortillas with broccoli slaw (you could marinade it in salad dressings like Italian or Balsamic Vinegarette) and some lunch meat. Another alternative is a yogurt that is low in sugar--try Dannon Light and Fit. Keep in mind that you want quiet foods--ones that won't be distracting to your classmates or teacher. You also want foods that are high in protein to give you energy but low on scent...don't let your food stink up the whole classroom). Mini Pitas with different types of hummus are always good. You could add some cucumber or black olives for some extra flavor and nutrients. You could also bring pretzels and dip them in the hummus. A cup of fresh fruit or a fruit smoothie would be good, too. It all depends on what you like. Just remember to keep it stink free and quiet and chances are you'll have a winner!

My son goes to a progressive school that bans unhealthy, processed foods and you must use reusable containers and all garbage is taken back home with the student. They want no waste. I think it's a very cool idea.

As such, I have a few things to suggest:
basic soups in a thermos
tuna/chicken salad and crackers
carrots/cucumber, etc. and dip (or peanut butter!)
wraps with cheese, lettuce, meats
plain yogurt with berries and honey (It may sound weird, but sheep yogurt surpasses anything I've EVER tasted and is very very kind to and good for your digestive system)
Apple pieces and peanut butter
Sushi (easy to make at home too. Japanese rice, seaweed and shredded carrots and cucumber (or tuna salad) for the middle. Just roll it up!)

My mom loves swiss cheese wrapped around pecans. A little expensive, but basic and yummy!

Good luck

Carrots, celery (although they make a crunching noise), fruit, water, pickles
