No I would not give a dog Pepto Bismol, if your dog ate something that it should not, the best bet is to let it run it's course. I have given my dogs children's kaopectate, but only in very small dosed. The symptoms you mention sound too severe for that solution though. try to get your dog to a vet, if it has been more than 24 hours with these symptoms. Bloody diarrhea in animals and humans is usually a sign of some severe illness. Good luck, I hope your dog feels better.

This is serious it could be a regular virus, parasites or even parvo get your dog to the vet asap. in the meantime go to this website for help amber technologies look for the parvo emergency files. Dont panic it may not be parvo but this wont hurt whatever the dog has. As far as the pepto yes we give pups and dogs small amounts of pepto all the time to counter vomiting and diarreaha from parvo and similar virues. The blood and the black stools are signs of parvo or another virus. Does your dogs stool really stink thats another. Get her to drink water even if you have to use a turkey baster and force it down her throat. Dont worry about the food force the water. I am an emerency distrbutor for amber technologies. I wont sell you anything youd have to be local but contact me if you need to for addtional help my email gary@burdicklabradors.com I'll be here.

My vet said when my dog had diarrhea to absolutely not to give it pepto bismol because it has aspirin in it and can cause dogs stomache to bleed. Give it kaopectate vet says it will kill the bacteria in stomache. Call vet they will tell you the same thing. Or better yet take it to vet if this has been going on for awhile. Good luck.

Your dog needs to go to the vet. Blood in the stoll and dehydration need to be addressed by a vet ASAP. Dogs *can* take pepto bismol, but this should not be in place of a vet visit.

I gave my dogs pepto all the time, but it was for indigestion. Your dog sounds like it needs a vet, take her quickly.

No dont give her pepto! Get her to the vet. Stool with blood in it is very, very bad.
She needs to be seen by your vest ASAP!

You have a sick dog that needs to see a vet. Could be parvo. It seems to sick to just use pepto.

yes, they can. There are chewables that make it easier to give to them.
You need to call your vet first, probably going to ask you to get a poop sample before you medicate the dog.
The dog needs to go to the vet asap.

Your dog needs to go to a vertinarian immediately!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When a dog has diarrhea she's in trouble. She can die within 48 hours. Especially if you can't keep her hydrated. Believe me I know. We just lost a little terrier. We took her to a vet but we didn't catch it in time. PLEASE??? If you love your dog. Take her to a vet immediately.

dogs can take pepto but it has to be in small amounts. But pepto can turn your poop black anyways so it may be hard to tell if it is all right.....You need to get it into a vet...........especially if she is dehydrated.
