I am going to buy a laptop soon but they are selling it with Windows Vista as the new OS.
Is it compatible with all the programs that can run with the current Windows OS?
Any additional advice is also welcome!

I would personally wait out the storm so to say of buying Vista for a while. There a lot of security issues and bugs they have to fix before it's reliable as XP was/is. Make sure your computer can stand up to it, though. 2GB of RAM is not the minimum requirement, but it's the requirement if you don't want to be working at a snail's pace.

The awnser to that is yes. Its worth buying.
In a short bit it will be the new standard, just like XP is now. Most programs will work on it.
And if your a gamer like me, DiX10 and 64 bit

honestly, my system has never run smoother...that's just the way it is.
as for buying...i don't know about that but it was certainly worth the 20 seconds i spent queuing it up and the 25 cents I blew on a blank dvd
