I just got a tea "ball" infuser and was wondering if the metal will add an unwanted taste or any bad elements to the tea.

I have never noticed a "metallic" taste when using a metal infuser.

Metal Tea Infuser

The metal won't cause a problem with the flavor, but the construction might. Most filters of that type are not large enough to let the tea fully expand. And if it is metal with punched holes rather than a mesh it probably won't permit proper water circulation.

Those two problems won't necessarily make the tea 'bad' , it just won't be as good as it could be.

I would recommend a basket infuser if you get real serious about loose leaf, you can get ones that come with teapots and cups, as well as stand alones for use with your own mugs.

I have used one before, and its never affected the taste of the tea. Actually, tea tastes better using an infuser instead of a teabag.

to me they do. perhaps you can get a tea pot where there is a "space" at the spout where you can put your leaves. the tea pots of course are not metal and the tea blend is great...here's a link...http://www.fantes.com/tea_pots.htm#porcelain

take a look at the teapots with built in infusers. good luck!

Well most metals have a slight metallic odor, I'd just start using the thing and the oders from the teas you brew will override the metellic smell. Try mint tea.
