I think it's a mental defect, not about intelligence, about sanity. In other words, I believe that religious faith is a sign of a sick mind.

Faith means complete conviction and unflinching trust in something sublime. Sincerity of intentions, without any doubt.
We have to work very hard like dogs and hogs , so that foam will come out of the mouth, and still, we are not assured success; always fearful. And then we die. That is our life without faith. Working like donkey *** and enjoy like hogs.
So in the human life the distinguishing feature is that his spiritual independence can show itself; whereas the animal is completely under the modes of nature, but the human being, the modes' influence is reduced sufficiently so that he can make this decision, from, whether to accept or reject faith.

Having faith in something higher is definitely not stupid. It's a person, consciously or not, filling an essential requirement toward leading a normal, healthy life.

It is a sign of intelligence in that people who need to have faith in something in order to lead normal lives are obviously aware enough of their situation and of the human condition to have had to reach out to something greater. It takes intelligence to ponder our existential dilemma!

I don't. I think it's the only honest reason to believe in supernatural things (gods, etc.). If the believers would stop falsely claiming to have evidence and start recognizing the role of faith, I'd have a lot less problem with them.

To insist upon something based on cultural pass-on is dangerous, not stupid.

If not look at you neighbors, then look at mid-east.

What you see?
Faith,
and thousand years continuous killings to their own.
To some degree, this is also true in Christian world, except Christians express these difference via hypocrisy and double standards.

Oh me!

faith is useless. People never have faith in things that are real. I don't have faith the sun will rise tomorrow, I know it will.

Faith is forcing your intellect to accept something it would normally reject.
Faith: Acceptance of ideals, beliefs, etc., which are not necessarily demonstrable through experimentation or reason.
"Faith; noun. Belief without evidence in what is told by one who speaks without knowledge, of things without parallel."
..........Ambrose Bierce
"Faith is often the boast of the man who is too lazy to investigate."
..........F.M. Knowles

Faith is a choice. It's a deliberate unwillingness to live with uncertainty.

What can you say? People like to stick their head in the sand and believe what they want to believe.

Having faith that obviously imaginary supernatural fantasies are real is beyond stupid. It is schizophrenic.
