It blocks the UV radiation from the sun that can cause cancer. If you expect to be out in the sun use liberal amounts of sunscreen. If you have been exposed to a lot of sun in the past you should get a skin check once a year from a dermatologist. Most skin cancers are benign, but the malignant forms of skin cancer can be deadly.

no, sunscreen decreases the risk of cancer by blocking harmful UV light radiation, which causes mutations in the DNA of cells, leading to uncontrolled mutation and growth. and no, some sunscreens don't have things in them that cause cancer yankeefool, that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard. but, if by some miracle you are right, show me your evidence. oh yeah, thats right you are an ignorant moron. what was i thinking, there is no way in hell that your claim is supported factually. SUNSCREEN IS REGULATED BY THE FDA AS AN OTC DRUG, IT DOES NOT CAUSE CANCER.

Yes some have the wrong things in it to hurt the skin. It is better to go out in the sun less and not use the sun screen.
