Does anybody have any idea of how much more expensive it is if I get my own car insurance under my name instead?

It will be expensive until you turn 25, then it will come down some. Depending on the type of vehicle you are insuring, your rates can vary widely. Things taken into consideration when getting insurance include, credit check, make/model/yr of car, if you live in a high crime area, is your model car often broken into, does the description of the car include the words turbo, sport, coupe. If you don't change anything on the policy except for the name, I would guess your rate will be 2 1/2 times what your mom pays now.

well it will be alittle more expensive cuz your age, but it also depends on what kind of car you have, because if you have a small car it will be higher, but if you have an 89 suburban, then it should be cheaper, cuz there is a less likley chance of being hurt in an accident

your rates wont dramaticly decrease till your 25 years old. you are most likely better off under your moms name.
