Yes, if you can count on your friend to come as arranged and if you mean you're leaving the dog INSIDE the house, not outside. (PLEASE do not leave your pooch outside for a whole week! Not that you would!) Call your friend periodically to check on your dog, and make sure he or she has your number in case of emergencies.

Leave him indoors, let your friend feed him and walk him or let him outside to relieve himself and exercise a bit. If the friend will stay with him for a while each time that will be best of all.

Have a good trip!

No, the answer to that is no. No dog should be left alone a week at a time like that. If you can't put him in a dog care for one week or a family member to take him for a week. There is no way you should be doing that. You can check and see if someone can stay at your place with the dog. But never leave him alone for a week. Anything can happen to this poor thing. You are going to do what you want but what you are planning is not a good thing I really don't care who said it is alright to do so. Some one coming in three times a day will not do that dog any good. What about the hours your dog will be all by himself. Think about that while you are gone for a week having fun. Your dog sitting at home waiting for his owner to come home.

Our neighbours went away for 10 days and left their two border collies outside, with a friend coming twice a day to feed and walk them. I was around all that time and could see over the fence that they were fine and didn't have any problems. The neighbours just had to clean up a load of poo when they got back! So, whether or not it's okay to leave dogs depends on the dog. And by the way, people shouldn't generalise about "never, ever leaving dogs outside" because it depends on the climate. We live in Australia where it is warm and there is no problem with leaving dogs outside. My dog doesn't come into the house at all because it's not permitted under my lease. She has a covered deck to live on and a nice comfortable kennel, and a good-sized backyard to run in while I'm out. She gets walked twice a day for 20-30 minutes each time, we go to the dog beach every weekend and she is very happy and healthy. She has never been in and so she doesn't miss it.

Make sure the person you intend to take care of your dog,
is responsible. Also I hope your dog already knows who
the person is. I hate to leave my dogs, and I know sometimes
you have to but if you have no other choice, leave this
peson instructions about the dogs feeding and make sure
this person takes the dog out for walks and always leaves
the dog lots of water and food. I would buy some new toys
and bones to keep the dog occupied.

yes and no. If you mess up a dog's routine chances are they are going to act out. Add missing their owner into the equation and you're going to end up with a mess in your house. Even though a friend is coming over, the friend isn't staying, and the friend isn't you. Think of a 4 year old being left alone for a week with a friend looking in on them. You're going to come home to a huge mess.

yeah thats fine just make sure the friend is responsible enough to stick with it and that your pet gets some exersize while you are away. Also if your friend cant take the dog to their place for a week maybe they could crash at your place to keep an eye on the house and the pooch.

your dog needs to be with someone, kennels are the best or a dog sitter. i'm always afraid what if there was a fire.....dogs have feelings and they get lonely, at least at a kennel there is plenty of action and barking possibilities that dogs love to do
