Around Dec. my full grown lab ate a block (d-con?) of mouse posion. I didn't figure this out until a few days later. Since she wasn't acting weid, I thought nothing of it. Then she began throwing up. She did this for a few days then stopped. She seemed fine. Then she began throwing up again. I took her to the vet toward the end of Jan. $300 later, with blood work showing nothing, and xrays only showing an enflamed stomach, the vet wanted $1000 to open her up and do an exploratory.
-She was eating and the throwing up had subsided, mostly. Then about a week ago, she stopped eating. Tonight, she wouldn't touch her dog food, but she downed a bowl of chicken and rice, so apparently she'll eat somethings.
-What's the best way to get her back up to normal wait if she's not eating her dry dogfood (which is expensive organic food).
-We can't afford a grand just for them to tell me they can't figure out what's wrong.

keep feeding small meals of chicken/ rice, it's gentle on the stomach. give her more time she'll come good. if I know my labs, she's probably overweight anyway. if anydog will sniff out and eat rat poison it's a lab, my lab dug a hole 3ft long and deep enough to fit in just to get at a spoonfull of ratsak. he got over it. good luck.

One time I had to foster a dog who would NOT eat her dog food. All she ate was chicken and rice (and whatever else she could get from someone). So what I started to do was cook a big batch of chicken and rice and I would mix some with her dry food. I gave her an hour to eat it, if she didnt I would put it up on the counter. Then I would wait another hour and try again.

Maybe you could get a 2nd opinion from another vet? That could help, or maybe try to save little by little for the exploratory. (if nothing else works)

Good luck!
Hope she gets better!

I don't know if you thought of this or the VET. Liquid Charcoal absorbs a lot of poisonous stuff ingested in the stomach. Very surprised your vet didn't administer this right away. Well my thoughts are your dog is probably slowely on a death bed depending on what the qty of decon was ingested. A mouse is 5-10Oz your Lab 60LBS. Kills rats at what %? Vs slow poison of your dog. Blood work is all that was done? Geez what about a stool and urine sample? My thought are you need to take him/ her to a 24hour vet if you are seriously wanting to help your dog out immediately. Your dog isn't feeling well and you will know if he/ she is eating the same dietary food it has always had as well as being active as prior. Something is defiantly wrong don't just wait for death to creep in. PLEASE SEE a local 24 hour VET NOW.

i cant tell you how to make her better but i can tell you that you need to get her seen immediatly. i have a boxer and a few years ago he ate a box of dcon. i took him to the emergency vet. they pumped his stomach and then filled his stomach with something similar to charcoal. they said that if it would have gone too long he would have died. i think dcon attacks nerves. (but i'm not sure.) you really need to get her checked out. it cost like 600 hundred bucks but he's 12 years old now and still doing great. dont regret spending if it saves your best friend. my 1 year old boxer got ran over by a car 2 weeks ago and it cost 500 to get her fixed up. she's still recovering.

Your very luck to still have your Lab with you. Personally I'd seek another vets opinion before I'd allow surgery for something unknown. I'd much rather pay a vet pill for a second opinion than a bill for surgery.

Just a thought but if her tummy's flora has been out of balance because of it why don't you try feeding her Activia (yogurt) it has all the enzymes to help digestion.
